Since its premiere in Paris in 1980 and subsequent opening in London's West End in 1985, it has become one of the longest-running and most celebrated musicals in theatre history. The current touring production, known as Les Miserables – The Touring Production (North American Tour 2023–2025), features an updated staging while honoring the beloved original design elements. This production showcases the epic story of Jean Valjean's redemption set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, exploring themes of justice, love, sacrifice, and revolution.

The performance at Teatro Nuevo Apolo in Madrid on October 16, 2026, is part of a multi-week engagement that continues the legacy of this iconic musical. Audiences can expect to hear some of the show's most beloved songs, including "I Dreamed a Dream," "One Day More," and "Bring Him Home." The production has received outstanding reviews for its emotional power and updated visual design, with standing ovations reported nightly.
